  • Cook time: 10-12 minutes
  • Servings: 24 cookies

Shop Key Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Pure Vanilla Extract
  • Baking Powder
  • Parchment Paper

Full Recipe Ingredients

Image
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar, for rolling (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.

  • In a separate large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 2-3 minutes.
Image
  • Add the egg and pure vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Continue to beat until everything is well combined.
Image
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the dough.
Image
  • Roll the dough into 1.5-inch balls. If desired, roll the balls of dough in the extra ¼ cup of granulated sugar for a sparkly finish.
Image
  • Place the cookie dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each one to allow for spreading.
Image
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers should still look soft. For a chewier cookie, be sure not to overbake.

  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
